ORGANIC Broccoli 500g

Broccoli is a plant in the cabbage family, whose large flower head is used as a vegetable. The word broccoli, from the Italian plural of broccolo, refers to "the flowering top of a cabbage".[3] Broccoli is usually boiled or steamed, but may be eaten raw and has become popular as a raw vegetable in hors d'œuvre trays.

Varieties include:
Cathedral: small, light green and similar to common broccoli with florets resembling pine cones
Common: green with clusters of compact florets forming a head

Selection
Choose tight compact heads with blue/green colour.

Storage
In an airtight bag in refrigerator crisper. Use as soon as possible after purchase.

Cooking
Boil or steam for 4–7 minutes, depending on size of floret.
Microwave in a covered dish with 2 tablespoons water on HIGH (100%) for 4–5 minutes until tender, stirring after 2 minutes to ensure even cooking.

Serving suggestion
Stir-fry sliced broccoli florets in a small amount of oil with sliced almonds or cashew nuts. When broccoli is tender add soy, oyster or chilli sauce to flavour.
